Goals and Results

The mission of Surgiland Project is to Trainer the Trainers, linked to the transmission of highly specialized contents. The project sets as its main objective, through a structured training process in the clinical health care process, to transfer to the territory the know-how of disciplines based on the adoption and refinement of techniques aimed at improving the quality of life of patients (the end users of the service).

The availability of modern surgical techniques, minimally invasive surgery and microsurgery, able to reduce operating risks as well as iatrogenic injuries and admission time, has allowed the improvement of the competences of all specialists involved. Ultimately, it has also permitted the optimization of the services provided with considerable cost savings.

The promotion of the link between the Italian network and the countries of the Mediterranean southern shore has allowed the creation of a network among excellence centers as well as the consolidation of privileged relations focused on competence sharing in laparoscopic and micro surgery. This consolidation has also determined the development of interaction skills and international knowledge among hospitals, thus contributing to the creation of an excellent methodology of training.

The project, as reported in the "Actions" section, has been divided into three training phases:

FORact (Residential Training in Italy), ESTact (Residential Training abroad) and FADact (computer aided Distance Learning).

Carrying out 4 Microsurgery training courses, 9 Surgery and Video Laparoscopy courses in FORact phases, 5 Microsurgery courses and 4 Surgery and Video Laparoscopy courses in ESTact phase, the project allowed the training of several specialists in several disciplines.

See “Actions” section for more info about the training phases.
