Transplant Surgery

The Course has been organized in collaboration with the National Transplant Centre (CNT) and the Centre-South Transplant Organization (OCST) of Cardarelli Hospital, under the auspices of the European Society of Organ Transplantation (ESOT). The training course has been organized in three days and the participation of the main leading figures in Italian and European transplants field, both as teachers and tutors. This event is part of a shared training process, developed in Europe and in all the Mediterranean area, with the aim to build a synergies network between different realities joined by the interest for pro-moting and developing professional and qualified surgeon figures in transplantation area. Activities have been divided into two training days for practical works as well as lectures on specific topics for donor’s management and transplant surgical techniques as preliminary for practical activities. During the practice in the operating room, each participant, assembled in groups of two, has had the opportunity to work with an animal model supported by a tutor for the surgical techniques application. Two human anatomical specimens, for more complex surgical procedures, were available for expert participants in liver and cardiac surgery. The last day of the course has been entirely focused on general theoretical issues related to medical-legal aspects or to patient follow up.
